Another sad story, only this one cost the poor collector $1600.00 to tell. This is a modern ambrotype, taken of re-enactors pretending to be war weary Johnny Rebs. This was sold to a unsuspecting collector who later found out it was a modern ambro, discovered who the photographer was, and even found out that modern ambrotype photographers all mark their images in one form or another. The collector presented this information to this reputable dealer, who had guaranteed any image for life, and he was told that he had waited to long to ask for his money back. You be the judge on this one. Is this a fair response? What would you do?
