Fake "Henry Flipper" (1st Black W.P. Cadet) Ambrotype
"You might add that the Ambrotype died out at the end of the Civil War and they certainly were not using the process to photograph West Pointers in 1877! "

I am so tired of this stuff. I would love to beat the living crap out of these slimeballs who come up with this stuff. This is a fake ambrotype of Henry Flipper, the first black cadet at West Point. This would be a very valuable image if it were real. Compare it to the "Sitting Bull" ambrotypes already in the fake section. Trust me folks, this is a fake image. Notice how the photocopy (paper image) has been folded and worn to appear like the ambrotype? It is an eBay auction (what else?) and here is the description:

"1/6th plate ambrotype (measures approx. 3-1/4 x 2-3/4") of Henry O. Flipper, the first black graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point. Condition of the image is good, somewhat dark, the image surface has a crackled appearance, but is stable and NOT flaking in any way."
