1883 - Cavalry Companies officially designated as Troops. (Circulars 8 and 9, AGO, of 1883.)
1888 - 1892 Fort Riley, Kansas; The first time the Regiment roster was complete and they were together again as a single group since 1876. Troops "A", "B", "C", "D", "E", "F", "G", "H", "I", "K", "L" & "M".
1890 - The Last Indian Wars Battle The Ghost Dance War at Wounded Knee, South Dakota. (29 December)
1891 - 1897 Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Indians were enlisted in Troop L, (Under General Orders No.28, AGO dated March 9th), Troop L, designated as Indian Troop, was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma Territory (July, 1891)
