Civil War Padlock & Key. A neat padlock just as you might expect to find in the earth of a Civil War camp site (see: Howard Crouch's (Excavated) Civil War Artifacts - A Guide for the Historian). Only this one still works nicely and retains its original key. Fashioned of sheet black iron with a swiveling brass cover over the keyhole. The lock measures approximately 2 1/2" across its body. All original and as found, retaining only a hint of the original black lacquer finish.
