Cdv of Captain James A Robson, of the 10th Minnesota Infantry, who was accidentally shot to death by a fellow officer!
Please see the contemporary reports from when he was shot, shown below. Looks like they took a photo of a tintype of Robson, making this a true "dead shot" copy as he is no longer available to have his image taken.
In fine condition with wear as shown. Early Whitney, St. Paul photographer imprint.

Captain James A Robson, of Freeborn County, of the 10th Minnesota Regiment, Company E, was mortally wounded on Friday night last, by the accidental discharge of a pistol in the hands of a Lieutenant (Dennis McCarthy) of Captain Sullivan’s Company H.

The shot passed through his abdomen and probably lodged in his bowels. The wounded man was not expected, on Saturday, to live but a few hours. This melancholy casualty occurred at Sioux Creek, about two miles above Belle Plaine, Minnesota.
