1887 U.S. Infantry & Cavalry School Vellum Diploma
Here's a rarity, an 1887 "United States Infantry And Cavalry School, Fort Leavenworth State of Kansas" diploma for 2nd Lt. Richard Blatchford of the 11th U.S. Infantry.

This ornate vellum diploma is signed by the following officers:
1. Alexander McD. McCook-Civil War general and post war colonel of the 6th U.S. Infantry.
2. Abraham K. Arnold, Medal of Honor recepient for gallantry at North Anna River, Virginia in 1864 signs as Lt. Colonel of the 1st U.S. Cavalry.
3. George B. Sanford, author of the book "Fighting Rebels and Redskins: Experiences in Army Life of Colonel George B. Sanford, 1861-1892"

("The author, a professional soldier, served four years as a Union cavalry officer in the Civil War, and then for twenty-five years on the western frontier, where he became one of the famed Indian fighters of his generation. Sanford saw action in the apache Wars in Arizona, the Nez Percé War, the Bannock War, and the Sioux uprising in 1890-91.")

4. Hamilton S. Hawkins, who would become a General in the Spanish American War & Commandant of Cadets at West Point.
5. Jacob Kline, another Spanish American War general, he had civil war service with the 16th U. S. Infantry.
6.William M.Wherry, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his gallantry at the battle of Wilson's Creek in 1861.
